Nike designed and released workout leggings back in 2013 that sparked major controversy in which the company giant immediately pulled the leggings from selling. The controversy comes from the designs looking very similar to the traditional Samoan Pe'a male tattoo. People found it exploitative and described it as a "direct violation of the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific." Nike should have consulted this design with other minds so that they could have avoided this cultural appropriation controversy. It is insensitive to the indigenous culture that they should have been more educated on.
