Madonna's VMAs 2018 look inspired by the Amazigh culture

Madonna wore an elaborate headpiece with horns, layered jewelry, a multi-hued printed robe, and black dress which altogether comes from a traditional costume worn by Amazigh women. The horned headpiece is highly significant to these women as it reflects the warrior reputation. Viewers were quick enough to stereotype the look calling it the "witch doctor" attire without knowing its background, which essentially harmed the history and meaning of Amazigh attire. I don't see this entirely as cultural appropriation as Madonna did credit the attire to the Amazigh culture on her social media since she had recently visited Marrakech, Morocco.
